Biggest WA Bream

Just wondering what size the biggest black bream caught on record is for WA - who caught it / where was it caught / what was it caught on and how long ago ?

Cheers
Jigger

It wll be caught sunday the 15th of Feb by Tom Miller and it's 58cm long (fork length) and weighed in at a whopping 3.5kg (coz it had just eaten a smaller 500g bream I was reeling in).

I have it on good authority, that it was 2.98kg and around 50cm.

Tom, when are you guys gonna get some tiny split ring pliers into the shop? Bought some decoys on Wednesday to try out, but you guys didn't have any small split ring pliers

for small split rings, i find it easier just to use a small set of regular pliers,
i grasp the ring near the split, and apply pressure against the ring on the lure, i can get the new one on and the old one off in one motion, takes about 5 secs

Acording to a guy I spoke to a while back it's way over 3kg's and he reguarly catches them at the canning bridge and at most other pylons

The tip is you tie the boat up to the pylon and drop over a filet of mulie on a gang hook and use 30 to 60 Lb line

There are definitely 3+ kg bream in the Swan, hooking & landing them is a different matter all together.

The 2.98kg fish was caught near the Narrows on bait, but I've seen bigger bream landed there, albeit a long time ago (10yrs).

I watched a school of smaller bream (30+) following a bream that made them look tiny i thought it was a red at first, that was in the werribee river, vic she would of been close to 55cm iv also seen bream at the docks that are scary size.

Well that just victoria

my mate jayden and kurt were down south perth yacht club two years ago in winter and this bream rose close to the surface and just sat there oblivous to our presence while we watched what i swear to this day was the biggest bream i have ever seen. ive seen alot of big bream around yacht clubs but this bad boy wouldve gone close to 60 cm or even more. u couldve called it a snapper in murkey water but being clear water we were certain it was a bream that wouldbe passed 3kilos easily. id estimate it to have been 3.5 kilos and 65 cm long

there are plenty of bream ova 3 kg's in the swan but because of their age their metabolism slows down dramaitcally like old people do, thus meaning they dont eat anywhere as much as smaller bream do. resulting in anglers hooking them very rarely and because of their age they're alot wiser than we might think so tryin to tempt them into hiting a lure or bait is half the struggle let alone even gettin them to feel like eating.
ud have to think massive bream would find perfect refuge in places like under the barrack street jetty in the maze of pylons or narrows, mt henry and canning bridge, in the deep depths of black wall reach hiding in the rock caves and ofcourse the fremantle harbor along the never ending man made structures. or south perth yacht club haha
