1. I use uni to uni, works fine for me. Tried Albrights a few times and all of em opened up, but thats coz i'm *naughty word* at tying knots.
2. I use the creativley named: "non-slip mono loop knot" because it allows the lure to move freely and generally has a better action. But Unis are fine if the lure has a split ring, otherwise best to use a loop knot.
heres a link to it

double uni is fine.. just double the thinner braid to give you 100%, try to tie a loop knot the advantages of having a loop knot are you will find the lure to swim more naturally and if you get a deep snag the loop knot will break before the leader knot...

i use a 1 1/2 rod lengths of leader, mustad do make a clip called a fly clip they are very useful if you are shorebashing and holding only one rod it makes life so much easier.

I always suggest to learn at least 3 joining knots to leader. Why? You'll find different apllications for all of them.

1. Double-Uni
2. Improved Albright....... not just the albright (improved is stronger)
3. Nail knot and nailess nail knot
4. Surgeons loop join (one I don't use)

Don't forget your leader creates the loop in the albright.

If the fireline or braid is very thin, yes, I double the braid as to not increase cutting tension on the leader. For that, either just a doubling over, or bimini twist (which you should learn).

For tying onto a jighead....... normally I use lock blood knot or half-double-bend blood knot. Now........ I use gall-s hitch. Stronger, easier to tie and no kinks in the leader knot area.

For tying to HBs....... always should use a perfection loop to not decrease the action of the HB lure. It's one of those rules that you should adhere to in this type of fishing.
