Dont use a swivel mate, use either a double uni knot with plenty of lube, or an improved albright, they seem to be the most successful knots used by most. Im sure others will offer a few, but these are the most popular I think.

cheers

I find the Albright the best "simple" knot so far. There are stronger knots out there but they're complicated as heck to tie, some of them. The Albright is one you can quickly tie on in the field and I find its the best. When I was using uni-uni and I got snagged and had to break off, the break-off usually happens in the leader to line knot which means I have to re-tie a new leader. But with the Albright, now I only need to tie a new leader 25% of the time..

Uni Knot

I fold a 30cm double in my braid before starting.

Overlap the braid & leader for about 15cm.

Using braid double, form a circle that overlies both lines.

Pass the end 6 times around the three lines, (braid double & leader).

Pull the end gently to draw the knot up into shape. (not tight at this stage).

Repeat the process using the leader, but only do 5 wraps.

Lubricate both knots and the lines between them with plenty of saliva.

Slowly pull both lines to slide the two knots together.

Tighten by pulling all of the lines together, including the tag ends.

Pull the knots tight now by tensioning the leader and main line (don't pull the tags).

Test the join and trim tags as close as possible.
