Leader knot for Docklands??

just wondering guys if our uni to uni's would still be ok for fishing the docks, where extra pullin power is apperenly required? Scott from gotone said we should really use the bimini for this area. What are your thoughts?

Nathan , the leader knot is not your only worry at the docks . Make sure you have at least an 8lb leader , and dont make it to long . Dont fish hard bodies there until you get a feel for the enviroment , or else youll have to ask your parents for another loan
. And keep your drag loose enough to let them run , but tight enough to keep them from the sticks. And be sure to watch you line , if you see it moving quicken than usual "strike "
The fish down that way are like magicians , theyll pull more rabbits out of their hats than youll believe ..

mate id usually use a double uni but have just recently been introduced to the surgeons knot,which,imo,is far better.dont use a bimini when breaming imo,it isnt needed,as crusher said minimum 8lb preferably 10lb,hth.

Just my 2 cents..

I dunno what the docks is like this time of year. But we fished it sunday and the place was dead. Not 1 bream seen. ( thats not to say there not there) but last time they were everywere..

Any way Good luck iff you still head there..

Cheers mate, does anyone else have any recent reports for the docks? COz i dont really want to head out there if there isnt decent fishing to be had.

Nathan its up to you mate .I havnt fished the docks in a quiet some time , to be honest i havnt fished at all for this last month. I couldnt tell you if the docks were a hit an miss mission . Just remember you wont catch fish sitting in front of a PC reading everyone elses twobobs worth . Go out and become a pioneer and prove everyone wrong . We all have different techs and its what works on the day , for you .

I've stopped using uni to uni for all applications whether it be docks or open water. I reckon the Albright's good enough for all my fireline to leader knots. When I was using uni rto uni, whenever I got hopelessly snagged and had to break the line, it usually broke at the leader to fireline connection. After I started using the albright, most of the breakages happen at the lure end which saves me re-tying a whole new leader to line knot which can be a bummer if you're either on a rocking boat or when there's not much light around...

Do you guys find the Albright to be a B!^@H for hanging in the guides when casting? I use a modified connector knot, and the connection is as smooth as. It also gives near 100% line strength. The basic version of this knot is recommended for superlines by Stren USA. I think they called it the Stren Knot or something like that.

I for one can vouch for the effectiveness of Ted's aforementioned knot. The tag end of the mono points back towards the reel, so there's VERY little if any resistance as the line is let out. It's also very strong if tied properly, though I can't do that properly just yet (Only through lack of practice). Another positive, it doesn't cut through the leader like the albright does, which is a MASSIVE positive when you're casting all day and actually loading up the connection occassionally.
