thats funny, typical yanks don't wanna be beaten.

Which fish was heavier??? the new Jap Largemouth is, is simple, and i thought our education system had problems.

Ben finds 4 shells and Andrew finds 5, who has more.......... its a tie as Andrew needed to find 6 in order to claim he had more.

How stupid

Anyhoo, what a cracking Bass

A Yanks idea on the New World record!

G'day All,

This is not a silly Yank thing. I for one believe if the fish is 1oz heavier then its the new world record! The IGFA has a board of governors that makes these stupid rules. I for one say records are made to be broken. I don't care where in the world or by whom. That being said, Mac Weakley of Southern California hooked a fish that beat both the old record and the new record! But he saw it was a foul hooked fish that rolled on his lure. When he came tight on her she was not hooked in the mouth but in the side. Being a true sportsman and not wanted the record tarnished he did not submit the fish for consideration. Call him honest or a fool. He released a Million Dollar fish. The fish later died of natural causes in its home lake. Just thought you should know.
The IGFA made this decision on the 2oz rule. I say the record is broken and more power to the angler who broke it. JMHO.

soooooo how big was the one he free'd ?
and i agree totally, fish is bigger so japan hold the cup IMO. BUT as i said, the boffins at the IGFA hold all the cards and if you want a legit record the rules have to folowed im afraid...dems the breaks...and yes it is silly.

now back to the who's is bigger debate..wheres this foul hooked large mouth ???

what a HONKER ! thanks for the link Brian
interesing re the 'not weighed on certified scales would not have upset the claim'. we get out scales locally all cert. once a year so as not to upset he apple cart. figured that was mandatory ?!?!?

still good on him, he knows how big it was but backs himself to nail another and do it properly...he's got my vote !

It can't be good for a fish that size to hold it by its lip only.

Fat though...morbidly obese in fact!

when you take the measurement error and water on the fish into consideration, 2OZ policy does make sense. i'd say 4oz policy would be better for such big fish.

All world records have to be weighed on official scales therefore water ect wouldnt come into consideration IMO. The rules seem embarrassing.

Hay Brian it’s been a while hope all is good. Weakley’s fish wasn't weighed officially until it passed away and well after the spawn period where it was found to be nowhere near the estimated weight. All this said, obviously as the fish had died there would have been condition loss ect.

Thanks
Drew
