XDS Poundage

Now that XDS has been out a while, what are people using? I believe the 8lb is smaller diameter than standard 6lb fireline so I was leaning toward the 8. Any comments on the 8lb and it's performance? Anyone used above 8 (for bream)?

Cheers

Stu ive actually been using the sufix version of XDS called matrix pro. Its great but i cant really comment on XDS itself. The stuff i use hasnt been released yet actually...

Well ive never used XDS but i can say that Matrix pro is a round braid unlike normal fireline or sufix. It seems thicker but the 10lb has the same diameter as 4lb braid. It seems to knot less and is very responsive. It doesnt lose colour too. It comes in a flouro yellow colour and a dark green colour. It will only be released at 10lb minimum though as 8lb and smaller apparently costs similar to 100lb to produce. If you want i might be able to arrange for ya to fish with it but it wont be available to buy til october i think

Sounds sweet. 10lb like 4lb wow. That's a bit even more pulling power (and confidence) than the XDS. I believe the XDS is round too but only available in jungle cammo green.

Yep, Did a bit of a search and found it.

Quote:
Ira fished a 7" 2 to 4 kilo Strudwick Softbodz Finesse rod, a Shimano Sustain 1000 reel, spooled up with 12 pound XDS Fireline down to a 6 pound Rio Flurocarbon leader.
from the 2004 Super Punt Press Release
