Unhappy Keeping Trebels from Rusting, I need Help!

G'day,

The only thing I dislike about lures are the trebles rusting. How can I prevent this from happening? What size/brands are more rust resistant compared to the stock trebles I have my Scorp 35 (I know, I know, theyre sh!t, but I've been spending my money on other gear)?

Cheers
Rohan

i dont find the trebs on the scorps too bad, all hooks will rust, just rinse them after use, if they are badly rusted already replace with srtinger 11s

What I have been using for other hooks in the tackle box is to give them a bit of a rub over with vegetable oil, it seems to do the trick

I wash the lures after use with fresh water and after wipe it dry. If you only wash it down and don't dry it, it will still rust. I was thinking of using something like WD40 as a coat for rust prevention but I think the smell will put off bream.

Yeah never spray your lure's with lubricant like WD-40 or Inox!
Not only will it put off bream, but it will leave a greesy/oily runoff in the water.

After you use your hardbodies, just let them dry on the tray and then put them back in your tray/packet...

who care's anyway...

Rust ain't that bad until the hook rusts off!
And the fish don't seem to care... Rusty hook's have only served me bad when I was trolling for tailor at Lake Tyres and a large Tailor managed to bite right through a rusted treble!

i wa sthinking, imo, rusty trebles would bend and break in the fishes mouth, dont want that happening, for the fishes sake.

You sure there's something wrong with WD-40? I remember reading a while back in Fishing World that one of Harro's mates swore by bardi grubs soaked in the stuff when fishing for cod. I really don't know if it'd put the fish off. About it leaving a slick, I'm not so sure it'd do that either, what with it having to be waterproof in order to coat the metal and protect it from water, but then I haven't been anywhere near any of it in a while now.

personally i wouldnt put any wd40 anywhere near my lures for bream,u never knowit may work wonders but it may make the lure unusable ever again, and im not really willing to take that chance,u know what they say, prevention is always better than cure.
