comments on Quintrex Explorer plz.

hey guys i have been quoted 1750 by JV marine for a 385 explorer hull, i was origninally goin to get a seajay 3.9 nomad, but they are 2000 for a plain hull. being 17 and on a pretty tight budget the quinnie is the widest boat that i can afford, at 1.8 metres wide.

Alot of people have commented on the welds of quintrex boats going down hill,
what are peopleopion of this boat? being primarly for breamin.

cheers greg

Have been looking at this size boat for about 12 months, it's the largest I can fit on the camper I want. Stessl have a 385 which is 2 mtrs wide, too wide for me 1.8 is streaching it.Ally craft have a shadow395 which is similar at 1.72 wide.
But I keep coming back to the Quintrex!

At the last 2 Sydney boat shows most of the exibitors were saying how there boats were better than Quintrex!
Qutntrex seems to be the benchmark by which all others are judged?

I like the "eclipse hull" of the boats I have mentioned, newer design than Stacer Proline style.

Let me know how you go!

Howard.

thanks howard, i will i have spoken to a few people about the welds on the quinnies, and all i have heard is that the welds are getting worse and worse, accross the whole quintrex range. Not quite sure what to do at this point in time

i have been looking this week at boats the same size and i think the stacer 399 proline is the better value and more stable boat i have to agree with you on the quality of the quintrex just looking at them the welds are not as big and in some places i think they are to far apart

Fish_,man,

I have got a 385 explorer. It is a great little boat for SP fishing and trout trolling. Mine is 5 years old so cant comment on possible welding issues. The hull has held up fine through some pretty rough stuff, although a bit wet and bumpy. I got the barebone hull and customised it myself and with the help of others. 3/4 Floor, front casting platform, extra rails for rod holders, mount for petrol tank.

Fish man . i to have been looking at buying a boat . I had a look at the hull of a Stacer proline 399 , nude no mods , i got quoted $1740 for the hull . Its 1.75 wide and a little longer than the 385 your looking at . Whats happened to that boat you were restoring ?

thanks guys, the exploroer is a lil bit wider at 1.8,, crabcusher, i made my mind up that i would be better off selling that boat and getting a V nose punt, cause the 25hp on the back that i brought for it will kill me one day, and i wanted to fit out a boat to use in the abt next year, so 11ft would be too small....so yeah its finished, and got it advertised in a couple of places.

The prolines are good but dont really like to a little chop because the bow isnt tappered as much as say the Hornets and Stessls.

There an awsome boat and are easy looking to set up though..

cheers, Nathan
