vic super punts

hi guys this might sound out there but here goes, im just posting this to see how many of u guys are interested in a super punt type competion for vic,ive been reading some of the threads in that forum and it sounds absolutely awesome if we could get something similar happening in vic i think it would rock, it would be basic to say the least, say turn up certain time/place pay ur rego fee say $20 fish for a certain amount of time heaviest bag wins and takes all cash.simple ey? i think the locations on the cards would be nong(launching diffucilties but)werribee river, patto lakes system and there is other places but i want ur feedback on how far u would travel, i want ur feed back just to c if we have the numbers atleast. same rules would apply max length-say4m no petrol motor to br used but u can have one on there main source of power is a leccy, minimum length 8ft(for safety) ok lets hear it boys and girls any feedback at all,thanks-ba.

I'd be up for it but I'm mainly landbased for bream! Unless we could have partner's or work something out like that.

i know ur landbased, but if we had a super punts comp u could just get a little tender dinghy and wack a minnkota on the front and that way u will be no longer landbaseed, and u wont need a partner , anyway ill just see what the feedback is and we may work something out, we will just wait and see.

mmmmmm could be interesting, but not sure people would really wanna just use there leccys, i was talking to em the other night and was talking how i organsied a yarra sesh/comp last year some time, he recons we do it again, if money starts getting involved ur gunna have to look at insurance, but if its a social sorta thing, meet down the nong or where eva and just get a trophy engraved at the end of a few comps be more of a social type thing, learn stuff of other members, relax for a day and show some youngans the ropes.

i would be defently up for a social sorta thing but with a leccy you can only cover so much ground in a day and most likly ur gunna have 5 or so boats in the same sorta zone. dunno man whats everybodys else's thought????

cheers greg

oh good job theo for bringing this up

yeah that might be the way to go greg no cash just a trophy at the end and a bbq so we can get to know each other etc.about the just using leccys i reckon it would be ok, because there probably wont be a huge number of entrants and say a 55lb mk can pull around a 10ft pretty quick.anyway, thanks for the replies so far and pls keep them coming.

thats it man plenty of spots that we could stop for a BBQ and a weigh in, take for example canning st reserve on the nong. I think the best way might be to make a poll simple leccys only yes or no question. as most people boats are over 3.8metre and once decked out batteries, livewell etc weighs a bit and soon enough the leccy will take a bloody long time to get newhere!
my comp thing on the yarra had prizes and that but was quickly looked over when the people you meet and get to know and meet up with on later occasions.something like this would be good to fish with other people and teach them some of your tips and tricks.

cheers greg

Sounds good. Maybe set up a few comps with an overall champ. Include places like the Hoppie's ?. Should be a lot of fun and a great way of catching up with fellow breamers.

LoL that would be a little "un sporting" of us Troy if they held a comp at the hoppies

Id be up to it but im not gonna drive my boat all the way to melb to enter something so small.
If it was an event like the WA super punt rounds yeah...

an 8ft size limit is a bit deadly dont you think?! By the way has anyone ever seen an 8ft tinny?!?!

I have helped orgonise small "fun-day" fishing comps were we get a few people to come along and fish for small prizes but public liability and all that crap becomes HUUGE thing as soon as you involve boats....we dont want anyone getting killed then having you put in jail......although not having you around for a while could be a good thing

Sorry for all the negativity but theres a few issues you have to think about first.

Im all up for it though!

cheers, Nathan

Maybe there is the option of the WA SUPERPUNTS becoming National !!. If it was run under the WABT it could create a ton of possibilities, sponsorships going National, interesting. If Ira would like to give his thoughts they would be very welcome. This would solve a lot of issues including insurance, sponsorship and the running of the comp,s. It could still be based on a social style atmosphere but with decent prizes and insurance covered. Like Nath said though even an 8ft boat is dangerous. It doesn't leave any room for complacencey or mistake. Any other ideas please put them up.

Why would you bother with an electric comp if its legal to use a motor, just have a comp be it you have electric or motor, then more ppl can fish it, if thats what they want to do

the electric only concept is a lot of fun Dan and something a bit different. It's also designed for systems where bigger boats may struggle.
