Went into the tackle shop to buy some leader yesterday and as I was leaving looked at the reels just out of interest. Ended up buying a Daiwa Regal 1500 X for $95 as a discontinued line.
I haven't read or heard much about them, everybody seems to be into Okumas and Tico's so help me figure out if this was an Impulsive Folly or A Bargain buy. regards Trev |

I think that is pretty much normal retail for the Regal X, a regal Z at that price is more typical of the run-out prices others have mentioned.

LCF,
I ended up buying 12 lb vanish but I am worried this might be a bit to heavy. |

That leader would be fine for some situations, and less than optimum in others. If you are fishing around snags, rocks, piles, etc than 12 lb is probably a good choice, but for a cleaner environment it is too heavy. you really need a range from very light for fussy fish in clear water (1 or 2 kg) up to as high as 10 kg in situations like oyster racks where you are going to get dragged over and around sharp edges, etc.
May be a good starter kit would be 4 lb, 8 lb, 12lb. Add to that as situations indicate.
