Canoe Anchor

What do you guys use for an anchor. I filled a old plastic laundry detergent bottle with sand. Works OK in a light breeze, but any stronger it starts to slide.
Any better ideas?
cheers

Two plastic laundry detergent bottle with sand

Don’t bother with an actual anchor it's to damaging to the yak and there really bulky.

Cheers, Nathan

maybe look at a folding grapnel anchor, the smallest one is 3.3 lb which would hold the yak fineanchors

Try using a brick or if you need something heavier a block of lead.

I use 2x 1kg plastic coated dumbell weights. They are less bulky and take up less room that a plastic bottle or anchor and wont damage your yak. You have the choice to adjust the weight, by using one or two weights, allowing you to drift or stay put or allow for wind/current. The plastic coat also stops any corrosion issues you might have with normal dumbell weights.

Just to confirm, I use the weights you attach to a dumbell not the aerobic style dumbells with the weight 'built in' to the dumbell.
