Rohan, plastics work well in the nong, - basically all will catch fish but l have been getting a few on the translucent pumpkin atomic and the piss colour ecogear. l haven't used hard bodys much in the nong due the the structure and depth l fish there. If you wanna get a few hardbodys you might as well start off with the ecogears, you won't have to change the hooks and they catch fish. Hope this helps.

I dunno how well you will do in the werribee river on poppers but maybe thats the thing to get them out of there hiding holes cos there pretty finnicky/smart bream along there and i havnt had much luck on them yet.
If i was gonna use a popper it would probebly be over the flats at the mouth of the river.
If you have any succsess on the bream in werribee river please PM me cos i been trying for a while now without much luck except a decent flattie at the mouth of the river.
Theres bream there thats for sure but there too hard to catch from the shore.

R2S poppers look the go,
Alluring Lure poppers are good for the pocket,
homemades are better,

as for the river of your choice, bit far to travel.
good luck.

The tim morgan poppers do the trick for me, have to change the hook, but there's only one so it is half the work
cost between about $8- $13 depending when and where you buy them.
