Lightbulb Why is it so ??

I come from a cycling background and a new high end bike isn't sold with pedals because the manufactures know the riders have their own pedals (there are many different systems) and wont use them anyway.

How does this relate to fishing ??

Well it got me wondering why are hard-bodies sold with lures and split rings ??

As soon as we buy them we remove the trebles and upgrade them to better sharper trebles that we already have in our tackle boxes, sometimes we remove the middle trebles altogether and the rear split ring we replace with Luresavers we don't use the original trebles thats why we replaced them and why should we pay for something we don't use ??

On the upside the cost of lures should now be cheaper and we would spend less time mucking around getting them ready to fish.

What do you think ???

The majority of people who buys lures just use them with the trebles that they have. We are a minority group who change them as soon as we buy the lures. The manufacturers will always cater for the masses.

One of the main reasons is lures arent designed only for the uper end of the market. They are sold to all and sundry so there needs to be a cost factor looked at. If you want owner trebles etc you will buy them seperately anyway unless you are looking at Ecogear HB's etc and they are around $20.00 each. Now your average Jo wont spend 20 bucks on a lure you can fit in a match box but they will spend 10 bucks on a lure and 10 bucks on a bunch of hooks as there is the "amount" factor there
