So you've still gotta use your hands to make the switch from forward to reverse?

Not to mention what one does when those strings break.

Still don't see a big need for reverse but if it becomes standard, I will use it. Save me getting a hand paddle out once or twice a session. |

I'd be keen if it comes in an upgrade pack. Not worth buying a whole new Mirage drive for though...

Great to see!
They'll be an optional upgrade new with yak or buy separate I'd say. Can't see the current mirage being phased out. Love my pa14 and never yet felt reverse was a necessity |

Hobie kayaks
Just viewing (on my computer) parts of the ICAST 2016 Show currently happening in Florida. There are a few other kayak manufacturers who have now released their own brand of peddle drive systems for their kayaks. It looks like their systems are equipped with Reverse Drive.
Maybe these competitors have put pressure on Hobie to do likewise? Cheers, Pheonix. |

Hobie obviously saw a gap in their offering and rectified it, only the one eyed hobie fans will say the never need reverse to justify their purchase.

Need? no.. Want? yep, would definitely be a plus, just depends what the cost is to upgrade. I can live without it but that's just me

I own a native and i dont think its a necessity. Its great to have and since having had it I dont think Id like to not have it anymore.
There seems to be more than enough fishermen in hobies that do extremely well as they are. Would having reverse at their disposal make their time more enjoyable or better? Quite possibly. Theres more to a kayak whether it has reverse or not. Well done to hobie tho. They have released the peddle SUP and now reverse for their mirage drive. As a company they do alot of things right! |

In particular with the current pa14 what even comes close? Storage, stability, size, h rail options, livewells, vantage seat etc etc.. One eyed for a reason I reckon |

The ULTIMATE kayak is a PA14 with a Propel drive system, then the only draw back is the weight
