3" plastics of all brand mostly grub tails
and nearly every small hardbody will catch them, peaks times for luderick are when squirt warms are spawning in the shallows. The luderick go carniverous and when they are spawning i.e they are aggressive.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule but those two are clearly defined periods where luderick are most likely to take lures.

The real question is what lures have people caught drummer on ? Ive heard of jim harnwell catching them in jervis on cut down white grub tails floated back in a bread burley trail from the boat. But never any solid evidence. Drummer on lure would be incredible. At the moment better chance of them on the fly then lure.

3" berkley bass minnows have caught me more blackfish than any other lure, particularly the pearl watermelon colour. Probably looks like a bit of weed on a slow sink.
Saying that, I've caught a fair few on blades and to a lesser extent hard bodies.

I'm after info about saltwater blackfish, ive caught the odd one here and there on hb,s and plastic but not consistently the most success ive has been on a tt blade(copperhead) and a plain clear blade I made, I reckon the clear blade gets mistaken for a butter prawn which they seem to like cause they wont leave the butter prawns alone when chasing gars, thanks for the replies keep em coming.

I can't say that I feel they are worth targeting in the sense I think you'd get more bicatch than blackfish but I have picked a number up on various lures. The standout for me would be using px45's above weed beds.

sunline floatline on a spin reel, with a flurocarbon leader, tie a small white foam indicator fly rig just like on a trout line.
On the end of the leader have a green weed fly.

There you have it, your fishing on the surface with the bread imitation and your fishing mid water with the weed fly.
Adjust size of foam and add or remove split shot on leader to manage buoyancy of foam fly and depth of weed fly.

Patent pending.

I like your bread/weed fly idea, I was thinking of trying a paternoster variation with a weed fly for breakwalls as for drummer maybe a sp crab under a float or cranka crab would be worth a shot.

I've caught a lot over the years on TTs Switchblades and Ecogear VXs not any certain colour they just seemed to like that type of lure.
