Zman Grubz
Hi everyone, I'm starting to do more fishing with lures and right now it's all about the Zman Grubz for me. I mostly hang off the bank on the yak about 20m out, just casting small 1/20 ounce waited Grubz, and slowly twitching back with a 4lb fluoro leader and 4lb fins braid. The thing that I want to know it how do people work the lure differently? I think it's a lure that can do everything, heard of people jigging, twitching, slowly reeling in and many more. The other thing I need to know is how effective are the different techniques?
While I'm making the move from bait to lures, I personally like twitching the grubz because you can let it sit on the bottom and on the pause you feel the tap tap bights of a flathead or the bang and run of a bream. Thanks, Lachie |

Hey mate the ZMans are doing well for me also. However the packs are getting smaller and prices I've noticed have climbed slightly also.
Just received a care package from Stuart from Hooked On Plastics and these are amazing and come in a wider assortment of colours - really eye opening to the diversity of a custom made bait. Edit: 20150519 - HOP Plastics picture. He made these packs up for me based on my area and he was quiet thorough with the colours selected. As I have quiet a turbid river that I live near. DSCF2625.JPG Yet to use my grubs but sure these will work just as well if not techniques seem to vary from place to place and time to time but the subtle working of these lures for me works best. Then in other sides it seems that no movement works like on the drop gets them smashed near the bottom - had one large flattie hit a tiny squidgy as it slowly fell to the bottom. Then some people will say violent retrieval will work. Mix it up and see what works for you for that particular day or time as things can and will change. Welcome to the world of luring mate - make sure you have a safe word or a support person to talk to when you buy too many or allow them to say when enough is enough...

+1 on the hooked on plastics they are great colors and swim great. As Slazmo said Zman have reduced the pack size from 10-8 and didnt reduce the price. Not imressed.Must be like the Tim Tams or Big Macs its for our health lol
![]() Stu at hooked on does some great things and has a great deal at the moment with a grub pack and box or you can mix it up with some paddle tails. you can find him on face book. As for retrieve you doing great small hops, double hops, you can do a slow retrieve you can let it sit there for a while and do small shakes there are heaps of ways there isnt one way as slaz said just keep mixing it up until you find which one works. |

I asked them whats the basis behind the reduced qty count and the same cost. They said that people wanted this change and werent fussed about loosing 2 count per pack and the elazatech* material they used wasnt really supporting the 10 packs as people were saying that they were having difficulties using most of the bodies in the pack. So they reduced the numbers per pack usually 10 to 8 and 8 to 6 counts... Sounds like the marketing team caught the dumb that day - were all savvy enough to see whats going on. Great product yes, for the sheer durability, but a pain in the posterior with applying to some jig heads!!! However the lesser numbers of product per pack and the same price and in some places recently I have noticed that the price has gone up again by a couple of dollars... Sure am going to give Stuarts Hooked On Plastics a good run! And at least these aren't going to eat through my other plastics and deform my lure boxes...
