The Smallest Poppers

Hey guys,

I have a niche situation that requires very small poppers. They must be true poppers (not walk the dog style stick baits) and must float. Profile, colour and casting distance isn't important. I regularly use flies for this situation but wish to mix it up. If I can't find something suitable I'll make one. Suggestions welcomed here too.

What are your smallest poppers?

Cheers,
Joel

I have had trouble getting the R2S smallest poppers to float or pop.

+1. The 35's are rubbish, they're too small to get a nice consistent action out of. The 45 on the other hand is great! The Rebel Pop-R Teeny Pop is also another great little bait. Both lures previously mentioned are highly underrated.

Never had a problem with the 35's I use very light leader and all ways apply sfactor to the leader making it float.I do have to take a pin to the holes in the cup to get rid of excess paint blocking them and make them bubble.

I must say I love the look of the clear with orange head. At that price, I'll definitely give one a crack. Cheers Jase.

Hi Matt. The Rebel is a little too big for what I am after. I'm really wanting small. To give you an idea, I'm pretty close to pushing a small split shot into an ear plug and putting a hook through that.

I will likely give this a crack too. If it doesn't float well enough, I'll put some Owner ST11's on it. That should hopefully do the trick!

Cheers guys.

The Small Halco Rooster poppers look the goods. T-Pivot is pretty good as a popping walk the dog combo.

I've got some miniscule poppers at home - they'd be boardering ~25mm. I remember getting them out of the bargain bin. When I get home I'll have to have another look!

Edit: Here's a photo of them (Very bottom left compartment)

Love the bubble pop 35s. Just run light leader, and they will be fine. I've had one that sank, but all the rest are good. Also Nories trejus, and some ones in Japan also work well for me. The ones from Japan are 26mm long.

Ive also had issues with the R2S sinking.
There used to be some small poppers made of thong material. they had a deep cup and with the material choice should float.
