Fishing the mangroves

Evening All

I am learning to fish the mangrove and need some help regarding which part of the rising tide is the best part in order to catch some bream.

Any help would be great

Cheers
Andy

I have found with general mangrove fishing the start of the run out is the best as it pushes food from the mangroves to the edges where the fish will be waiting. On the high tide the fish can be deep in the mangroves where you can't get a cast to em. It is all system dependent but that is what I have found

I mainly fish in mangroves and high tide is REALLY hard!! As the tide pushes in the prawns, crabs and baitfish move up into all the roots etc and there is no way that you will pull fish from there. To be honest the fish go right off the bite on the high tide but as it runs out the fish get excited. It really depends on the steepness of the banks and density of mangrove roots as to when the bite kicks in. I regularly fish a mud bank that fires at different rates, the steeper bits fire first as they drain quickly, the slower less steep bits fire later.

Mangroves are FULL of things for bream to eat but at low tide they are dry and high tide they are the ultimate sanctuary for little things. It's the in between that's the key and each spot is different.

I'm the same I find the falling tide to be the most successful I use my kayak to get as close as possible and work poppers over the roots, although it takes some teeth gnashing to get the fish back out

I prefer fishing the mangroves on the run out tide and the first part of the run in.
Mangroves fish better once the tide has fallen a bit allowing you to place your casts way up under the overhanging foliage to the bank and the gaps in the mangrove roots.
At the top of the tide there is not enough gap to get your casts between the the overhanging leaves of the mangroves and the water.
Try casting into the darker shadowed areas in the mangroves and slowly work your lure or plastic out to the sunlit areas.
