Grease issue in reel

I have recently brought a couple of okuma salina 10000's because they are cheap and have a life time warrenty and I don't want mates using anything I care to much for. I was told the grease in these melt and get into the anti reverse bearing and stuffs the reel. How would I go fixing this problem? The reels will be used for gummy's, snapper and small kings.

Strip, clean, regrease and reassemble

Okumas can be a bastard as they have retarded shaped gears, but there are markers to help align them, took me ages to get the hang of them. Done heaps now, but I remember early on it was a battle. It has to be pretty precise

Seems unusual that a company like Okuma would sell a product with a known terminal fault.

But is appears that this benefit....

If you go down the DIY maintenance path, seek out some of the Inox products, MX6 or MX7.

Compleat in Flinders Lane is listed as an outlet.

I have had grease come out of new reels still in box.More likely to happen to you on a hot day out in the sun during it's first day.
The only way i got around it was to wash out all the old grease and re apply a very thin layer of grease in it's place. The problem went away.

Separation of the base grease soap and the oil.

Very very common... Loose too much of the oils and your kaput. Best not to leave reels in a hot car or hot area like a garage with no insulation.
