Is Fireline getting thinner????

Lads and Lassies,

I just received a new role of Fireline (thanks Craig), and I havent used it for the last 2 spoolups on my reel, but this batch looks to be thinner in diameter than I remember.

Does anyone know if Berkley have changed their diameters or fibres? Its 4lb.

I think that the smoke and pink are thinner than the green, don't think it's changed though.

Could it be just your perception??

Older Fireline tends to 'Fluff' up a bit feeling thicker - the new stuff is skinny and slick

Dave,

I wish I still had some of my last spool of Fireline. I changed from fireline and tried the Triton dyneema braid, then tried Platypus Braid (which sucked) and now Ive just spooled up with 4lb Fireline in the bright green. The older spool seems "flatter" too. This isnice and micro thin with a touch of flattness but overall seems refined. Maybe its just my perception after all.

It is slick stuff, slicker than the last batch I had. Hell, I cant even hear the line leaving the spool. My first cast this morning I thought I lost my jig!! It was deathly silent!! Just after I cursed my knots and closed the bailarm I started to wind and was pleasantly siprised I had weight on the end of it. Excellent. Gotta say it feels better now than say 6 months ago when I last used it.

Does anyone actually have the diameter of the 4lb and 6lb fireline. I can't find it anywhere and I've thrown out my old spools that may have had it on them.
