Soda blasting or alternatives?

Hello BM Members just enquiring if anyone has had any experience with sanding or soda blasting the paint off their boat, costs involved?, looking at giving the old stabi a birthday as there is a little electrolysis around rod holders and the paint is scratched and stone chipped. Thanks in advance.

Hey mate, I have my 435 hornet at sandblaster now should be ready today. He has said it will be around $300-400 thats everywhere bar the underside.

I was planning to get soda blasting done just to get a better finish but the guy estimated 700 just for the sides so i decided to go with the sandblasting and will just have to do a bit more sanding.

Any sand, bead or other blasting of aluminum will eventually case harden the outer surface and make it stronger to some degree. This is evident in the bike scene with those choosing to go with those options.

If you go putting stainless steel into aluminum you'll need to dip the screws into lanolin grease or oil. Otherwise other products like anti size nickel grease can help with dissimilar metal corrosion. Ensuring that you prevent it is always better than trying to fix it later downbthe track.
