Reel to Match Dynamic F1 DYFS-632ML

After a reel to match the following:

- Nordic Stage Dynamic F1 632ML
and as a secondary thought:
- Nordic Stage Dynamic F1 602L (I'm getting both rods)

I already have a 2004H Luvias, which I think will match nicely with the 602L, and have a Shimano Exsence C3000M which I think will match the 632ML, however I wish to purchase a third reel given the aforementioned reels are already matched to other rods consistently. Probably moreso for the 632ML, given the versatility of the rod.

I'm leaning towards the following:
- Daiwa Sol II 2508
- Shimano Exsence C3000HGM

Anyone have any experience with the above options or have an obvious alternative. My thoughts would be either of the reels could double for bass, light barra and inshore work (pelagics etc). Price range would be to mid $300's max. The reels I've mentioned retail around $275-$300 delivered.

Id go Shimano like a Stradic ci4+ 2500 and buy a 3000 spool for heavier days
Or the Rarenium
Or go Luvias

Hmmm interesting, never thought of the Luvias. I see it's 10g's lighter than the Sol II.

Would a Luvias 3012 be much bulkier than say a 2500 size Shimano?

I like the Exsence CI4+ for weight and size (compact 3000 = 2500).

I use a 2500 Shimano Sustain for mine, would match perfect to a reel in the 200 - 220g range. Probably the best blank I've ever used. As mentioned elsewhere I've caught big tuna, mackerel and a smaller black marlin on mine with the sustain.

Wouldn't look at anything bar the Exsence 3000 or 4000 really.

Having a rod with a soft tip, soft middle and butt. You want 3 things in a reel,
rigidity, speed of take up and given that you'll be hanging on rather than turning heads a larger capacity helps.

a heavier reel can help improve its balance.

from that my recommendation is the Twinpower C3000HG or the Certate 2500 size in faster gearing if you trade toughness for ergonomics.

I enjoy playing with regular tapered rods like the Mirage MF711 as well and found with them excellent at wearing down fish if it's in open waters.

If it's weight savings or a more decisive fight I agree with partizan
M1-69L with a 2004luvias or even a 2500 stradic will give more versatile characteristics for the jerkbaits, lipless cranks (Vibes) and plastics.

All of it, its a regular tapered rod..perhaps its easier to describe it with taper.

a faster taper will have a softer tip transitioning into a stiffer butt section.

a slower or regular tapered rod will bend through the rod. Each has their benefits, and I take several rods separated by tapers in the same weight class.

However if Yella is looking for versatility, a faster taper such as Mod fast or even a lower range of fast will afford him more versatility in presenting his lures.

Versatility is more than just the numbers printed on the rod, it's the way it works.

Hey guys, thanks for the input and help.

I think to be fair, I believe the Dynamic F1 is a versatile rod in itself referring to class and fish you can target with it.

As per MCYL's comment, taper is just another reason to have a mixture of rods in the quiver, and yes I do agree a stiffer taper will probably be more suitable for some presentations. I will assess this in time (Continuous Improvement and Action Plan in place )

After much thought, I will most likely match this rod to a high geared compact 3000 Exsence (2500 size bod with a 3000 capacity). My reasons are the following:
- I already have a C3000 in normal gear ratio. Two reels the same with 2x spools of differing line strength will allow for 4x different reel configs.
- High gear ratio will assist when using the 632ML on pelagics (faster retrieve ratio).
- Dynamic is already a light rod, the CI4+ Exsence will match nicely, in at around 190-200g mark.
- The existing Exsence I have has never let me down. From bass in tight structure to barra to pelagics and screaming runs from giant herring, the reels drag system is smooth with no lock up.
- Bang for buck.

I did think of a Certate 2500 in High Gear but the cost is probably on the higher side. That being said they look like great work horse reels.

But my experience to date on the Exsence is similar, it's a shame we don't get reels of this caliber in Australia at the price point that can be had. Very capable reels that exceed expectations beyond the sea bass they were designed for.

Yells, OMG dude.

I've been debating which JDM shimano I want for the M1 Inshore 73L, I looked at a heap and none had the exact spool or gearing I wanted... I forgot all about the Exsence!

4000XG for me!

Great reels for the price too mate. I note Digitaka now also sell them (originally I went to rakuten and got my C3000M for $280 delivered), however you may need to await stock...

Sure have mate, that and the aero ARC 5000XG will do great as a PE 1 and PE 2.5 lure launcher. We tested a small brand popper casting 100+ m on a 4000.

Feels fast to me. But ive never had a 6'3 6-12lb rod. Holding the grip and bending through the joint is solid as a 12lb rod could possibly get. Putting 2 fingures on the 1st
guide an bending through the tip its hard to see where the regular taper comes into place.

For 12lb 6'3 id say it is v'fast. For 1/2oz jig heads an 4 inch plastics much the same. It has a solid first 3/4 even spinning 30g metals at full speed.

Maybe I am missing something here
