New boat wanted - suggestions please

Ok between now and Christmas I want to decide on a hull, then I can worry about the fit out.

I'm looking to find something with these specs:

About 5.3m
Minimum 2m beam
Fibreglass
Side console

Want it to be good in less than ideal conditions so probably about 20-22 degree dead rise but still have reasonable stability to stand up at the bow. I don't want a bass boat but want to fit it out like one (if that makes sense). I hate gunnel rod storage and wanted to put a rod locker under the front deck to hold about 9 rods.

I was interested in the cyclone 540 hull (5.4m, 2.2m beam) until I was told that they are a "pig of a thing".

I am open to all suggestions which are close to the specs I have listed above. It's hard to find a hull you like and a manufacturer that will fit out the way you want. I guess everything is a compromise and it all comes down to money.

Haines signature have a 543sf hull out. I love the look of it and apparently they do custom fit outs. Close to 2 tonne from memory.
I was keen on one as I'm looking for something similar in the next 12 months, but at $60-$70k I think I'll have to keep looking.
Others I have considered include, galeforce, edgewater, sea hunt triton series and multi species hulls from the bass boat builders in the states - eg skeeter WX1850 & 1900, ranger angler 1880 & 2080 etc.

Haines v17

Pick them up cheap with shitty old john'os; n stuff, would convert nicely into what you want and specs are quiet close, there's a previous thread on a 146r , that you might be interested in, doing the same to a v17r which would make a beast of a boat and they clean up great when refinished.
Haines project boat - page 5 definitely worth a look
Cheers

Thanks guys. I like the look of the haines but a little too $$$ for me. Have considered getting an old haines rebuilt as they look the goods when finished, just need to go for a ride in one to see how they are at rest.

Was going to try and buy locally but there are some great boats in the states just need to do my homework before committing.

I'm picking up my Pioneer 175 Baysport today, will post some pictures and a review in the next few days. 17' deadrise but is meant to handle 2-3ft chop easily, 11" draft and does 70km/hr with 130L of fuel onboard. It's centre console, but I'm going to make a removable front deck extension too.

Will be good to see the pictures and hear how it handles the chop etc.

Dan your Drifter looks great. I was looking for a Drifter hull some time ago but only found a really really tired one which was too much work for me.

theyre a great hull and they didnt make a lot of them, very hard to find, the only other options for rebuild with your requirements that i can think of would be whats already mentioned, 445 146 or v 17 (skinny), the drifter seems to be a crossover of both models which suits me nicely, good luck with the search
