presso vs double clutch

hey all,
just want to find out which is more popular for bream and trout.

presso 6F vs double clutch 60f

and maybe why you like them? have used a couple of double clutch b4 but non lasted more then 10 cast before the river God decide that he wants the lure for himself. so thinking of stocking up again and both lures look so good to a noob like myself.

They're both excellent, but they're generally used for different situations. The Presso is a shallow runner which is good to use in shallow water, whereas the Double Clutch dives down fairly deep and this makes it more of an option for deeper water.

Another difference between the two is the Presso is a floating lure and the Double Clutch is a suspender.

I have weighted my Presso lures so they now suspend in saltwater, this makes them an even better lure for bream, as they remain stationary in the water column during the pause.

presso dive depth 1m

double clutch dive depth 1.3m

but i like Windknot's idea of weight the presso to make it suspending.

Presso don't dive to 1m though and it does float real quick. A lot of the Derwent shores probably suit the DC more. It's probably a better all round minnow to IMO. You can high stick it so it doesn't dive to deep in the shallow stuff and rip it down deeper when you need to.

You need a 393 MW62f mate. They love em down there...

Of the 2 lures I have had more success on the Double Clutch both in shallow and deeper water. As mentioned by The Chief they can always be high sticked for shallower conditions and I like the way they can stir up the bottom to create interest. Having said that for me the finish on the Presso is far better and I find that out of the box their hooks are stronger than the DC's ... so you certainly wont go astray with both in your box . Regards, HBt.

If you fish it how it should be fished it wont dive to 1m. Maybe in fresh if you just cranked it in with no pauses it might. I'd stick to the DC if you have to choose one of them.

The 393 is cracker, go through any of my pics and you will see how many it catches. Sea runners love it to.

I'm keen to see the new range of Daiwa lures that are coming out in October this year. One of the 4 or 5 new series of lures (TD Minnow Silent), looks very much like a Presso, except it's a bit leaner looking and it's a suspender. They will have some new, interesting looking colours too.

I'd like to add just one more comment on this subject. By all means, buy yourself some 60mm Double Clutches. They're a great lure, but don't overlook their bigger brother the 75mm model. If anything the big Double Clutches are an even better lure than the 60mm model. Don't be put off by their size, the bream aren't.

And if you want a suspending Presso Minnow, Daiwa's new TD Minnow Silent is exactly the same as a Presso except it suspends in salt.
