You're not going to be able to buy much of a boat for $4000, when you take into consideration that you will need a trailer and a motor too. It pretty well rules out anything new, as you just can't buy a new boat with a casting deck for that sort of money.

This leaves you with the possibility of buying a second hand boat, which is not a bad option at all. You might be lucky enough to find something suitable for $4000, if you're not too fussed about it being in as new condition.

You haven't mentioned what sort of fishing you would like to do. If it's just estuary fishing, I would recommend a 'v' nosed punt around 4 metres long. These boats are very stable at rest and they make excellent fishing platforms. They're not so good in rough conditions though.

If you want a boat that's more of an all rounder, a boat that's suitable for both estuary and limited bay and coastal fishing, then you will need to look for a conventional boat that's 4 metres or longer.

Hope this helps.

Yeah second hand is fine, yeah it will be for estuary fishing and possible seaway fishing depending on the weather, thanks for the advice mate

I just did a quick search on gumtree for a suitable boat in your area and came across this. Looks nice for the price and is all kitted out for tournaments.
I've got a similar sized boat and it's fine fishing with 2 people in it and can still be taken out in the ocean.
Hope this helps

Blue Fin is a good brand too. Nice boat. I used to have a basic tinny 3.7m. More versatile than people think.

Well done. It's certainly a nice looking rig and the price was too good to pass up.

Congrats Bslayer and well done Olistevo for helping out a fellow member in a huge way. I'm sure that sweet little tub will give you years of fun in the sun. Cant wait to see some pics of some fat bream hitting the deck.
