hi any idea why my motor wont pull start as it supose to.
every time i try to start after the motor have been tilted up after an hour or so driving i have terrible time starting the motor. i have tryied pumping many time and moved the throttle up and down with no luck. it also happens when coming home from fishing which is only 20min driving and also have trouble trying to start to flush out the motor. however once motor have been started it takes half a pull to start and always start first pull anytime. even after 10hour fishing in winter and really never had trouble afterwards. really cant seem to find the answer toward the problem. it only happens when starting after transporting from tilting up. about the motor: 4stroke 25hp merc pull start, 20-25hr on the clock. can someone help suggest how i can solve this problem. please help sorry for the typo was typing on the phone: Last edited by TwinPower; 28-06-2014 at 09:49 AM. |

Do you pump the bulb on the fuel line?
You may be over pumping it, the fuel line may be draining the fuel back to the tank also. Choke settings can affect also. Last edited by bjspinner; 28-06-2014 at 08:06 PM. |

i dont think it has anything to do with the age
unless something is clogging up when tilting, as i said its done max 25hrs and starts always on first pull in water after first start! also its out of wty i have tried with fully hard bulb and soft and also full fuel and little fuel in the tank also tried without fuel line when burning the fuel in the motor. any further ideas? |

Run the petrol out of the carry b4 you tilt it up.
Won't fix it but will minimise the frustration meantime |

Hi Twinpower, thank you so much for putting up the solution to your issue you were having.
There is nothing more frustrating than googling a problem only to find out that the original poster never gets back on to say how they resolved their issue. |

no problem!
have to say pulling the starter line all the way and given a quicker snap at the end seems to do the best job for me. before this i have been sitting in water trying to start for 5-10mins this should also help for cold starts as well. please provide feedback for the boys good time to test in winter. also noticed lot of people are not pulling far or fast enough due to the position while standing or leaning on one knee. this was my issue!! i thought i was pulling it to the end, I was soo wrong. well any other feedback would be appreciated Last edited by TwinPower; 15-07-2014 at 09:57 PM. |

Good news that you sorted it out.
Reminded me of my 95 25hp Johno. Absolute pig to start first thing in the morning, particularly on a winters morning, but started first pull all day after that. It was good for one thing though. Used to rack up a sweat pulling away before it would fire.
