Micro Tinny - Opinions?

Hi Guys

Im eager to set up a proper casting platform to replace the back-breaking sit in style canoe. Most of the fishing will be in skinny shallow water.

Im torn between a Bluefin Catfish, Stacer Jon Punt or the myriad of other models that fill that niche.

Opinions and comments appreciated.

Marty

A lot of those basic punts are very similar don't think you will go wrong with any of the bigger name brands.
Bluefin make a good punt if you like the Stacer Jon punt it might be worth looking at the Savage Jon punt as well they are exactly the same bar the sticker on the side, and I think they may be a little bit cheaper.
What size are you looking at 3 metre or 3.5 and over?

Have a search through the forums mate I've seen some on here over the years.
For small boats there's still plenty of different ways to set them up,think about what storage you will need how big you want casting platforms etc and even if you require a live well.

I have often thought about doing something similar. I like the Quintrex 3.4m Cartopper. I wouldn't go overboard in tricking it up too much, as you want to retain the simplistic, lightweight approach.

I'd probably glue some outdoor carpet over both of the thwart seats, which wouldn't add too much weight, but it would give you somewhere to put your rods and stuff down without any fear of damaging them. I would also fit two clamp-on, swivel seats to the centre of each thwart for comforts sake. Of course, I'd want a decent fish finder as well.

Does it have to be a tinny?
Would you consider another craft?
Kayak you can stand in? Scanoe?

You're way to big of a unit to fit in them aren't you? hahaha

The catfish is the best from the ones you've mentioned man, bluefin have awesome finishes across their range.

Also have a look at the estuary pro, comes ready to fish and still gives you the opportunity to fish tournaments if you wanted to.

Or you could just buy Nick Richo's rig! Im sure he'd sort something out for ya And its got plenty of mojo!
