Upgrading spool bearings are an easy and effective way of getting the most out of your bait caster.

I've got a question. Im looking to get a spare spool for my zillion crazy cranker. Do I have to look for a specific crazy cranker spool or will majority of the Daiwa baitcast have spools that would fit the crazy cranker. Also where can I buy a spool in australia for a good price?

I always upgrade the bearings on my baitcaster reels. For my Revo LT and Zonda Hedgehog, i used Hedgehog Studio and ZPI finesse bearings. They're more suited to casting lighter weights. Both these reels are pretty capable when it comes to throwing light lures but the bearing upgrade made them a lot better!

For my Revo S i installed Boca orange seal bearings - i was using that reel to cast 1/2oz spinners and it made a big difference in casting distance. BTW, always run ceramic bearings dry. They're a little noisey but cast way better. I cleaned my bearings and added a drop of quantum hot sauce after someone talked me into it. I tried it out once, cleaned the bearings and ran them dry again. I lost a decent amount of distance as the bearings weren't spinning as freely.

I use this pin removing tool. It simply sits on top of the pin and you screw the t-piece which slowly pushes the pin out. I haven't tried spool pin pliers but i did try regular pliers once... never again...

Another good upgrade, but usually expensive, is a lighter spool. There's a lot of aftermarket spools you can get from Japan that are lightweight and shallow if you're into the finesse side of baitcasting.
