Thinking of a daiwa

Hi guys I need a hand as I am not all that familiar with the Dawia stable as I'm a Shimano man. As it stands 90% of my reels are Stella's but I was thinking of trying a Daiwa for something different. My question is i guess which one do I buy as it will be a bream/ estuary setup. Looking at a second hand one just in case I don't like it haha. Price range will be $300-400

Thanks guys

Go a certate! For that money you'll be able to buy a brand new Certate. If you can, get an exist. I recently converted to Daiwa! after owning an exist you will never look back at shimano. Certates are awesome I just bought myself one today a 1003 size.

In Brisbane, is the 1003 similar size to a 1000 shimano?

Maybe a touch bigger, more like a 2000 shimano. If you want I'll send you one over but that means you have to pay postage which will maybe be like 420 all up.

Have a look on http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/default.php
You can get a new Certate for the $350 mark, or even have a look at the Luvias, both perfect for what you're looking for.

Try tacklewarehouse at camp hill. I got my 3012 certate from there. Paid around the 410 mark from what I can remember.

A Certate would be an excellent choice. They're a little heavier than a comparable Stella though. I own both a Stella and several Certates and I feel that they're much the same, quality wise and for smoothness.

You might also consider a Luvias. They're about $100 cheaper than a Certate, yet they're almost as smooth and they're also considerably lighter too.

I have found www.digitaka.com to have the best prices and they're a totally reliable company in my experience.

Cheers mate, what's the main difference between the two apart from weight?

Not much really. If anything my 1003 Certates are a little smoother than the Stella 1000. There's not much difference between the two sizes, except the Certate is slightly larger.

You can get new certates in Aus for $410 I don't see the point of getting a tate from japan as once you factor in shipping you will only save $30-$40 and not have aus warranty, on the other hand if your looking at a luvias definitely buy from japan you'll save closer to $150

Between Luvias and Certate?
More metal and less resin parts in a certate, hence more weight. I think an extra magsealed bearing on line roller. Have spent 8 hour days on the water casting with a 2004 size certate, they are far from a heavy reel and are a delight to use.

+1 Digitaka.
Delivery is inc. in the price, and they arrive within a week most times.
