Battery size

What size starting/cycle battery are people running?

Have a Hds 12 and 9 running of a 120amp 800 cca and need a new one just thinking what I had was overkill and heavy!

CCA is basically starting power. That's where the type of motor comes into it. What the poster needs to look at is RC - Reserve Capacity and that's in minutes.

The more pumps, sounders etc the more RC minutes required. For couple of HDS's and pumps 120mins RC would be a starting point. If your run an Optimax the biggest you can fit and afford is the way to go.

Yep. Before you jump price up an Optima D27m or D31M blue top. Little lower in RC rating but a better construction and delivery and smaller. Allrounder is a good all rounder though.

I was looking at the optima but wasn't sure on size.

I'll have another look at the ones you have suggested.
