Daiwa Morethan - CASTING MODEL

Following the current seabass baitcasting trend, looks like Daiwa JP is bringing out casting model/s for the Morethan series.

Hahaha, oh nagz, you are truly a tacklebroker*...

*Tacklebroker: A tacklebroker is a regulated professional individual, usually associated with a tackle firm or tackle-dealer, who buys and sells tackles and other fishing equipment for both retail and institutional clients, through a fishing forum or over the counter, in return for a fee or commission or nothing.

I thought the reel seems to be based on Tatula and this supports my thought:

Yes certainly looks like a pimped up/glorified Tatula.

Might still get one though.

That retrieve ratio of 8.1 in both models may put some off, its blistering.

Hopefully a slower version may emerge??

I think the baitcast seabass trend became possible and popularised because of the introduction of super high speed baitcasting reels.

This upcoming Morethan's counterpart in Shimano is the Exsence DC which is only available in 8.0:1 ratio.

Too fast for me i think i reckon a barra would need a gatorade to catch the lure lol

Might be good on hungry fast fish though

Now i'm talking myself into one

Less cranking power on large fish with high drags and less durability under said conditions

I just wind slower for the bazzas.

I always buy the higher geared models in my spin and baitcasters. Never had a problem dragging in the big girls.

Higher retrieve will come in handy as you never know when the queenies or trevs turn up unannounced.

Do you use high gear reels in the rivers? I spoke to a few keen fishers on the tourny scene who suggested the higher gear pullls the lure out of the snag/strike zone too quickly for their liking, which def turned me off, havent experimented though

On the harbour i guess they would go ok, but i'm seriously over queenies and trevs when i get a chance to have a fish

They were awesome when i first got here, now i just want the barra

Never have the chance or opportunity to fish the rivers. Even though there are several ppl in the office that fish them regular. But I never seem to get an invite. Got my own thoughts on ppl who own boats.

So just purely landbased for me.
