How do you fish Cranka Crabs?

Just wondering how you guys fish the cranka crabs? I assume that its just a slow wind maybe a few little hops? Had a go down the local today to no avail, caught a few nice bream on cranka crank deeps fishing around pilons and rock structure.
Cheers guys, Ash

I've only ever fished them at the docks. Deep water 10m and vertical structure. Just fished them on the drop like a micro vibe.

Hey mate , if im fishing structure like pylons , boat hulls and pontoons i have been skip casting them in and letting them slowly sink down on a slack line , if it hasnt been hit by the time it hits the bottom ill do 2 little shakes with the rod tip , let it sit for 5 seconds, repeat then wind back in, if flats , reef or rock wall i cast it out do a slow wind then a few hops followed by a 5 second pause and continue ... hope this helps .... but honestly anything will work if the fish are there

^^ thats how ive been fishing mine. I wind mine really really slow. I find that when i wind really slow the crab seems to walk along the bottom. I think it may be caused by the legs catching on the bottom causing a slight action

.The fish usually grab it on the pause though so stay tight to it

In all honesty, I've done absolutely nothing. I use accurate casting to put the crab next to bridge pylons or rocky outcrops and simply allow them to drift into, through and back out of the target area.

I stand there watching like a hawk and as soon as I see the tick, I calmy wind the fish in...

Otherwise, I simply cast it out wait for it to hit the bottom and drag/drift it behind the boat. Sometimes I may use a casual sweep of my rod to impart some motion..

Hey mate... We find them effective when cast tight to bream holding structure like boat hulls, bridge pylons, snags etc and just let them sink naturally into the zone where fish may be sitting watching for bites on the drop... On the flats we cast them at Polaroided fish leading the fish by about 2meters and we let them sink to the bottom and give them a tiny little shake just to get the fishes attention then we let them sit and most times the fish will just swim over and suck them in... When blind searching we toss them as far as possible and let them sink to the bottom then with a low to the water rod tip position we either sweep the rod tip inwards toward our feet while implying a slight rod tip shake/shudder while drawing the crab along the bottom... If you check this retrieve out in clear shallow water you will notice that the rod tip shake makes the lure come alive like it is a real crab crawling along the bottom... We then insert regular pauses throughout the retrieve... This is just what works for us mate so best of luck to you and hope you enjoy!

Cheers
Steersy

Thanks guys, what you have said is pretty much what I was doing. I was fishing in a pretty strong incoming tide situation so it was hard to keep the lure in the strike zone for a decent amount of time. looking forward to my first decent cranka crab capture!!

I don't really have any rocks or pylons where i've been fishing for bream lately, but i gave the Cranka Crabs a try for the first time this morning. I was fishing flats, around .80 - 1.5m deep, so there was plenty of weed beds and just open sandy areas.
I was casting the crabs right next to, or just ontop of the weedbeds. I'd let the lure sink for a few seconds and let it sit, give the rod a few little hops, wind up the slack and wait for the hits. I found that this was when the bream were hitting the lure but i missed the first few as i was a bit slow in winding up the slack.
Before i had my first cast i put the lure just next to the kayak so i could see what action looked he best, and little hops made it look like the crab was scurrying around on the bottom
