rossco and myself made the early trek to some trout water on saturday. our original plan was to focus on one particular river and have a quick look at a few others in the area. we fished our river all morning and caught countless small browns and a handful of rainbows. the river was tight which made for good fun pulling the fish out of the fast flowing small pools. although we had fun catching heaps of small fish, we decided that some bigger fish would top off the nicely if we could find some. after a much needed cold drink, we drove down to the goulburn for a look. the water level was extremely high and was flowing very fast but the water was still crystal clear. with the water being so high we both opted for the proven trout slayer that would dive a bit deeper, the double clutch. we were only able to stay for an hour or so before we had to leave but in that hour we caught a heap of good fish, for what ever reason i only got rainbows and ross only got browns. all the fish were well over the average size and with the super light gear (1003 certate, 2-4lb bream specialist) combined with the fast water, we had a ball landing every fish (note to self: take net next time). the fish were super aggressive and we only dropped one of the 10 or so fish we hooked, pretty good stats for a trout sessions. anyway ill let the pics do the talking from here as i have a feed of smoked trout to attend to.....
