New Morethan 3012 vs Morethan Branzino 3000

Any thoughts about these two reels? I was looking for an Branzino 3000 for medium saltwater purposes such as snappers, mahi mahi and kings but u know the new Morethan 3012 is coming out.

Spec. wise the new one seems as good, still using "saltiga gears", but line capacity is less.

I want to hold 200m #2 PE line. Anyone have experience with Daiwa 3012 spool and know if it could hold 200m?

The official spec. states that it holds 100m of 16lb mono and 200m of #1.5PE. It seems not very accurate as 16lb mono is equal to #4 dia and if it could hold 100m of #4, it probably could hold 200m of #2 line at most.....

My Zillion J dream spec is also 100m of 16lb mono and it could hold 200m of #2 YGK PE line.

Cheers.

My 3012 certate holds 200mtrs of toray 20lb. Which is meant to be 1.5pe. With a few metres of backing. I think youd struggle to put a full 200 metres of pe2 on a 3012 size spool. Maybe about 170ish metres. In saying that not all pe2 lines are the same thickness

I've got a 3012 Exist which I use for the same species. I think I got close to 180 metres of PE 2 Avani Casting, but that would have been putting the line on fairly tight so it packs down well. If you pack it down tight you will get more line then you thought on.

Cheers. I think I'd get the Morethan 3012 then.

Btw do you think 170~180m of #2 (33lb) PE is enough for 1 meter king or Mahi Mahi? Rod would be the Catalina GAME68S-3・N which is rated 30lb max.

You'd get close to 300m 30lb SAS braid.
I see its had 1 or 2 bad claims recently but I've never had any trouble with it in any size I've used

Would you think the Catalina 4000 is a better match for this rod "Catalina GAME68S-3・N" and the species as stated? Or the Morethan 3012 is more than enough?

I dunno whether I should get a 3012 or a 4000 size. The Daiwa website suggests the Catalina 4000 for this rod. I felt this reel the other day in a local store and it's pretty heavy.

Certate hyper custom would be the pick of the bunch,
The 4000 is lighter than the Catalina but has alot more balls that the old brazino

3012 will get the job done, kings won't always run long (if there is no structure) but they will dust you as quick as you hook them. The good thing about the branzino is they are built with solid gears. While I'm using an exist it matches the rod I've got perfectly so I wouldn't go any heavier. I've caught a heap of little dollies on it and they are awesome fun. 150 plus metres would be more then enough line for most fishing, I've also got my best kingy on that outfit going about 15kg odd and the rod is only rated to 23lb but holds its own well.

Cheers. Guess I should try using the stock 3012 spool first. I may also get a Branzino 3000 spool as spare spool.

Btw the old Branzino 3000 spool should fit the new Morethan 3012 right? According to this chart, new spools couldnt fit old reels whereas old spools could fit new reels, with a washer.

What's that washer? Is it supposed to come with the reel as a spare part?

I've got a spare branzino 3000 spool if u are interested.

In terms of spools. Real4 or rcs spool fit onto the 12 exist. So I'd believe the old branzino 3000 will fit onto the 3012
