Advice needed! Flourocarbon Reels

Hey guys

I have a 7'5 Jackall Bros Calico Rod rated to max5lb

I want to get a reel for it to fish 3lb flouro straight through

the rod only weighs 89grams so I was thinking a 1003 Luvias or Certate

But having never fished flouro straight through im not sure whether a 1000 size reel is sutiable and need advice

Thanks Guys

Hey buddy,

My Howler is roughly the same weight and i run a certate 2500 and it is fine. Fluoro always sits better on larger spools, reduce coiling and improves casting distance. I personally prefer running 2500 on long rods as it balances alot better, with such a light outfit you won't have problems running 2000 or 2500 reels.

Cheers

I felt the same way when I first tried flouro straight through.

I've had Varivas fluorocarbon from reels size 1000-2500. No problems. Like using mono when I was a kid. Just a lot thinner.

Make sure the butt guide suits the spool size. If the guides are too small for the spool, It may lessen the casting distance. Because all the energy made in the cast is not even pointed through the first guide. Also it's how some people get guide wraps.
I've had this problem quite a few times until I figured it out.

I rate them highly I have 1 x luvias 1003 9 x luvias 2506

And few Tate's

I only use 1003 because of the slower wind

But mainly use my 2506s they cast better IMO
