retrieves

hey guys just wondering what the best retrieves are for bream and flatty on small super breams and crank baits.. is 3-4 winds with a pause god or does it need to be more complex.

That's what I tell me 7yr old to do and he catches them ok. I just tell him to wind wind wind pause. Although he's learn to add a few flicks of the rod tip in now. One great very simple trick, and it works awesomely well on plastics too, is to wind slowly and with the hand holding the rod just stick your index finger out so the line catches it every turn of the bail. Adds a great little action to your lure/plastic. Here's a couple of his fish on the simple retrieve.

when you mean flick is that lifting the rod tip up or down. side to side or what.. this might sound like a stupid question. ive tried a few but they dot seem right

I flick down. Much like they do with barra fishing when trolling. Jiggling the rod tip also imparts a good action on small minnows like eco MX48's

if you're new to the game I recommend a slow constant retrieve, especially with cranks.

Slow as you can. Just enough to give the lure action. The bream sees your lure as a straggler then BAM!

If this doesnt work try other retrieves and lures.
