New style Merc flushing differences
Hi all, new to the forum, have been having a good read and picking up a few tips, very useful. Hopefully some of you guys can help me out here.
I am currently looking for a new mercury 15hp and have read the posts here so i have a rough idea of the differences between the Super model and the US model. The deciding factor for me will be fresh water flushing after use, the US model has the water intake underneath the cavitation plate so you need to stick the leg in a tub of water to flush the motor instead of using the hose flushing muffs. Does any one have any thoughts about flushing the US model, just seems a bit of a pain to carry a large tub around for flushing let alone flushing with used flush water instead of a good supply of fresh water through a hose. Look for the pop up buckets, specially designed for this, they store flat. Use a bit more water but its cheaper than a new motor, salt water floats on fresh so leave the hose running when your flushing and it should spill over.
