New 2013 Certate - noisy oscillate

Hello all,

So I just received my brand new 2013 Daiwa Certate 2510R-PE from Digitaka and noticed the reel is a bit noisy when operating - the turning of the handle seems smooth but the reel has a rather noisy oscillation and there is a sense of friction on the pinion gear. It is quite disappointing really.

Can any Certate especially 2013 Certate owner verify whether this is normal? I sure didn't have that on my 2010 Certate.

Thanks.

Funny you said that G, I just saw a video on YouTube - this guy is reviewing his New Certate 3012 and when the handle was turned quickly, it makes the same noise as mine - not hugely loud but that is not really what I expected from a high end reel. I did not expect it to feel like the Stella but as least as good or better than my Sustain.

I started to think maybe my expectation for the new Certate is simply too damn high. Or maybe the so claimed silent oscillation is misleading. My heavily used Sustain 2500FG does not sound any noisier than my new Certate.

Does your 2004H has a bit of what I would call friction noise on the main shaft when turning?

Perhaps the bearings are a bit dry?

no real friction, none of the newer 2011+ reels have been as free moving as the older daiwas though. My 2012 exist certainly wasnt but has loosened up and is better.

The Chief now has my certate so maybe best to ask him whether it has improved. I never found it to be a problem, just surprised it was so loud

Strip them down, degrease and re oil them, use then for a bit & re service them again, possibly manufacturing swarf and god knows what else inside them??

I've used a few times. It does have a bit of noise but you don't notice it. I think all the new mag seal reels take a bit to wear in. The older Certate didn't but from the new Caldia on I found they are a little stiffer out of the box. They tend to wear in a feel better. I think my new Exist feels slightly better and quieter after using it 10 or so times. Bloody good reels the new Exists IMO.... and the Certate is pretty good to. I think a high speed reel is always gonna make more noise to.

What magnetic oil are you using for the current oil filled reels.
