Which Sol?

If you had a choice between the older model Sol or the newer version which would you choose and why?

Hey mate I have both. 2500 older one and 2004 new one. Love them both. The old one is a grate work horse. And the new one is no different. Tough as nails.

First I have herd. No one I know had ever had a problem with there's. love my old one. Still smooth as and just keeps going. It has mainly been a
Snapper on sp reel. So it hasn't had the easiest life.

Never had a problem with the older Sol's

I've had 4 in my life and only 1 has died... Because I fell in the water with it

It's been a while so I can't remember the specifics but suffice to say that if your haven't had any issues you're lucky.

I do vaguely remember constant line roller issues and countless reports of other issues.

After going through a dozen reels I just ended up getting a refund and switching to something else.

i haven't used the Sol II but i had a Sol for a while. No dramas with it. Was buttery smooth til the day i sold it. I only got rid of it as i had too many other reels.

That's weird. I can only speculate but I can see the line roller set
Up being prity much the same on the sole caldia and other mid range reels
Alike and I have never had a problem with my caldia which is prity much a sole. Maybe you just got reel unlucky so to speak. Lol.

There were countless posts about issues when the Sol first came out, so I wasn't the only reel unlucky one.

The Sol II is infinitely better in my opinion.

I had a feel with the current model and felt nice.you would assume the current model would be better but sometimes it's not the case

I've had two older generation Sol's. As reLapse said quite a few of them had problems with the line roller. One of mine had this problem, although there's something about the older Sol's that i prefer (aesthetically speaking). They have more of a simplistic yet appealing look. I probably should mention I know nothing about the newer Sol's mechanics opposed to the previous models as I've only just started getting back into fishing. Still prefer the older model though Biased opinion is bias.

.

I'm certainly having line roller grief , mine sounds like sandpaper already and it's not long back from Daiwa and supposedly being replaced, along with every other major working part after 12 months use.
As mentioned before I do use mine almost daily so expect more than average wear and tear.
I like the reel but not happy with the line roller, and yes the problem does exist.... certainly in my case .
