Help!!!!!
Hi guys
I have been fishing around claremont jetty a lot the last couple of months and have gone out around 20 times and all of them added up all I have caught is: 2 flathead 2 bream and around 1 hundred blowies. can somebody tell me how to fish that area as I can not go anywhere else because I do not have the transport. Thanks Andrew |

I'm surprised you managed those 2 bream on artificials, I was always under the impression that these residentual bream were alot more spooky and careful, ya know how bream habits can be different at different locations.
I might have seen you well a few times already as you sound like being in the same situation as myself. Anyway this last week claremont has been pretty quiet for fish, but other 'species' have been on the run. I was also surprised the flathead numbers have been down, actually takes alot of effort to catch one these days For bream I cant really help you you've done better than me , only bream I've caught there have been with bait (you can catch quite a few at a decent size). On a side note...you said you catch hundreds of blowies, does that mean you lost 100's of tails aswell !@?!

Andrew, there are resident bream down that way that you can catch on plastics, but at this time of year, the best bet is to head upstream.
From Ascot to Guildford and beyond is the best bet as has been mentioned by several people. If your parents aren't keen to drive you up that way, have you considered catching the train up there? If you get on at claremont and stay on until you hit guildford, you can just get off and wander down to the river. There are lots of parks around there that give you access to the river. Cast hardbody lures like sneaky scorpions, oargees and snap shads around the bankside snags (there's been heaps of posts on this). You are far more likely to do well upstream than at Claremont, although there are still fish around there. You really need a boat to get the most out of it around the yacht clubs down there. Cheers James. |

If there are lots of blowies fish at night as long as there isn't much light.

Nah thats the problem with claremont, even though the blowies die down abit at night they are still a nuisance and are in places that the bream are likely to be

Havent fished there much of late but usually around 8;30 - 12. Usually for some squidding action and just a way to spend a few hours with some friends.
Actually to come to think of it I think i have a good idea of who you are. here goes a shot - do you fish with your sis? |
