whats going on here?
This Daiwa Advantage has had a tough life - A few months ago it was stomped on by baggage handlers and it was sent to Daiwa to get the bail arm replaced.
I hadnt used it since and gave it a run today - this metal do-hickey is loose and sliding around on the bearing. Is this something thats easy to fix yourself or do I have to send it back |

After carefully studying the schematics - its clear that I have no idea what I'm looking at - a glue/weld combo is under serious consideration

Hmmm ... if you wrap the bail arm in foil then microwave the reel for 10 mins on medium high it should fuse the lose parts together ....
i have a new stella 5000 ... lets me try this on that first cos we dont wanna ruin your good reel by doing something stupid ...

i keep my reels in the freezer as it keeps the grease fresh .....

"its just because "
let me explain it like this -- metal spinners can twist your line terribly ... the spinners in australia turn anti clockwise .. smart fishos like me and yellow dude also carry a few american spinners ... they turn clockwise ... so we use the aussie one for 50 casts then the yanky one for 50 casts ... that way we dont get line twist ... ![]() same as fixing reels - only the older guys know the tricks...

I'm hoping its a quick fix I can do myself and I dont have to send it back there. I'm just waiting for the right guru (preferably not sponsored by a microwave manufacturer ) to read this post and tell me everything is going to be alright.

I'm gonna archive all of your wisecracks and start a thread. It will be called "Bender's Wisdom" and will most likely get quite a good run. Anyway, I need to charge my phone, is a 2400 watt microwave too much? Should I wrap it in lead first because I have heard lead is good for keeping the heat out? Or should I use sarking, that's a good insulator and it has foil too! |
