Looking for some baitcaster advice
Hi,
I needed some advice. I want to purchase a baitcaster for saltwater use and i'm tied between a few: Mo Prices - Shimano Curado G7 at $189 - Daiwa Heartland at $199 - Quantum Inshore Smoke $199 - Pflueger Summit WLP at $179 It's mainly going to be used on the Hawkesbury River and Pittwater, bait fishing for flatty's, bream, whiting, etc but I also was looking at the option of using plastics or blades for a change. Although egg beaters are better for this, I miss my old baitcaster and would prefer to grab one of these 4. What do you think would be the best value for money? They're all around the same price range but the Summit and Heartland are on sale at Mo at a great discount. Having said that, the Curado seems to be the more reputable one. My absolute limit is $200. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Last edited by jsm81; 26-08-2013 at 01:54 AM. |

Hi mate
None of those fish will really test the reel too much. The curados are strong, and will handle those fish with ease. Plus you can use the money you saved for bait or lures Nagz

What sort of lures do you use for those fish? Those baitcasters wont throw lighter lures the way a spinning outfit can unless you start to spend more on the reel.

I have this reel and its very good. Its about $250 Japan but at least you wont feel the need to upgrade to another reel that can cast light stuff. |
