Got this link from KFDU. http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/...hter-continues There is an email at the bottom of the page for the "Hon." Minister. Please help. We need to get rid of this type of fishing/raping of resources. Cheers Rob |

A disgusting and unsustainable practice. Imagine how many undersized fish were also killed and 'disposed' of.

And fisheries will do what?
![]() Went down to one of my local jewfish haunts last Monday night and caught a few up to 83cm, thought great will head down again Tuesday night. Get down there on Tuesday night only to find the f@#*wits had there nets out, from about 5m off the bank on the north side and about 10-15m from the bank on the south side of the river. YES, that's right, 1 net set overnight across almost the entire width of the river, thought stuff this will ring the local fisheries officer, waste of time and effort that was. ![]() I'm not 100% sure of the laws but I thought if overnight set netting, the bouys had to have lights of some sort marking them(which said net didn't) and that it was illegal to net across a boating channel. The local fisheries officer couldn't even be bothered to come and check all was legit. ![]() Not sure what annoys me most with this, the lazy fisheries officer or the fact that they are allowed to set net overnight during June, July and August in a river that is DohDohDohDohed up enough anyway. Oh yeah, not mention that where they set their nets is also in areas where bass come up to spawn during these months. ![]() I'll leave it at that for now before I really go off the handle about netting anywhere.

About time someone posted something that really matters, the amount of these story's I've heard over the past 3 months is a joke, the sad part about it is that nothing will be done about this.

The link reads like greens political spin,, how is loading fish into a ute any worse than dropping them 3m into a boats hold? it's not!
Bruised and un iced fish oohh noo, someone better inform asian and european countries that have lived off the ocean for centuries that if they don't ice their fish the bacteria will getem! remember the groups that want to see fishing stopped in this country don't discriminate between recs and pros, help them stop the pros and your essentially waiting with your pants down cheeks spread ready to be shafted! imo |

Yes, stopping the pro's(can't see it happening though) could possibly mean consequences for rec anglers as well but it would mean that there are still fish to be caught, not just for us but for future generations as well. If it means stricter bag limits and increased size limits so be it, bring it on I say, at least there would still be fish to catch. Not many serious anglers would keep anywhere near their bag limits on any species these days surely, 1 or 2 for a feed every now and then is fine. I remember a similar thing ages ago (15+ years or more ago) with a family of netters the 'Isgro's' up here at Paradise Point. One day they were returning from a day of netting and the fridge failed on the boat and they had to dump their whole catch of whiting.
They dumped them into the canals up here. I remember for ages seeing dead whiting just floating around... Its got to stop - professional & fishing don't go together anymore. Professionals don't do this kind of act and fishermen are expected to stick to the laws. |
