Accuracy of Aus post tracking

Does anybody know how accurate Aus Post tracking really is? I have had a few registered items posted recently and none seemed to have any updates whatsoever even after it arrived For example, I got a rod sent last Friday, the tracking system said it was received by Aus post at 10am Friday and that's the last and only update I have had

I've always found it fairly spot on Matty. maybe there is a bit of a back log due to the long weekend. I would leave it another day or so before getting too concerned.

Cheers

Oh I'm in no way concerned and I did take the long weekend into account, I was just wondering what everyone else's experiences are like.

Cheers

Aus Post have changed there tracking system a bit. I've found if you give them a call they have a lot better info, last time I called on there web site it showed still in QLD but found out it was on board with driver for delivery. Go Figure

For the volume of goods I send , I find it is pretty good, however if contractors don't make a scan then things go wrong and sometimes their scanners don't work. I chased up stuff before and their internal system is better and there have been times where they use the contractors system to find stuff and that is the best as you get drivers name and details but there is a lot of screaming to get to that level

Depends on the postcode, if the parcel is being sent metro the scan will come up next day 99% of the time. If parcel is going outside metro area usually takes 2 days to come. Should say business days instead of days.

Yeah I send multiple items a week with AP, their tracking is terrible compared to freight companies.
I always drop over the counter so I get a lodgement scan, and then often the best you get after that on the web tracking is a recieval scan.

Very rarely do you get a in transit scan.

yeh mate, it will be in transit by now, usually when i track with auspost, it doesnt have any transit details, just where you posted it, then which area it is mailed to, then "with driver for delivery...
its not overly helpful, but it is a good form of insurance for the parcels.

The scans are very accurate, when they're actually done. The scanners are a bit like a mobile phone and they will transmit scanning details almost immediately when they're within mobile range and they will store scans for later transmission, once mobile reception is regained. Scanners also have a GPS in them, which can be used to display the actual physical location where scans have been made, ie, outside your house, etc.

Of course, all of this technology isn't worth two bob if the operator doesn't choose to use it. Scannable items should be scanned when lodged. at mail centres, at delivery centres, and when delivered. Sign for items will nearly always be scanned prior to delivery, but other items can be missed. It shouldn't happen, but operators/contractors are often under severe pressure.

I sent a Leatherman to Zen Imports for warranty due to the jaw's snapping.

Aust Post tracking...

Walked in and Sent it on the 25th May
25th May - Accepted by my local Aust Post store here on the GC
25th May - Sent to Aust Post Dispatch GC sorting
25th May - Accepted at South Ryde Sydney Dispatch sorting
25th May - Accepted at West Ryde Sydney Aust Post store (where Zen Imports is located)
25th May - Accepted delivery.

Must have flown down on one of those new F18 Super Hornets - not bad for $8 postage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 days of nothing in regards to updates and then found my new Leatherman Wingman sitting on top of my letterbox when I came home from work - for the taking of anyone that wanted to pick it up from when it was delivered to the time I came home at 1700pm.

Moral of the story - Aust Post updates are as honest as the political system at the moment, full of BS and cannot be trusted!!!
