2000 vs 2500 shimano

Hi all,
I'm contemplating a 2000 shimano, but I am wandering how big a difference there was between the 2000 and 2500 in terms of size. I do nearly all my fishing landbased, so casting distance is my main concern. Will I lose distance with a 2000 size reel?

Yeh I knew there would be better casting distance with a 2500, but is it very noticeable?
Ive never seen a 2000 shimano in the flesh, so I don't know how much smaller the diameter of the spool is?

IMO i think the 2500 would cast further BUT is there a noticeable difference in the weight between to two reels??? Id prefer a reel that balances better with my rod then a reel that will supposedly cast a tad further.

I personally would go with the 2000 (i assume its lighter)... using a super PE braid on a decent rod should get you casting a decent distance

Something else to consider is the spool size in relation to the stripper guide - the distance between those and the size of the loops made while casting.

Smaller the spool and larger the stripper guide I find the smoother the cast - in direct opposite the noisier the cast and lesser the throw.

Not all rods are custom made to each reel in the market - so have a look at the angles created when the reel is on the rod (spool to stripper guide) and even have a cast with a dummy plug (relative to the lures you will be using) outside the shop if you're concerned (make sure the line is pre wetted or have a bottle of water handy)...

I, myself have a list of rods and reels that work together well. This list I stick to religiously, only those reels chosen go onto the rods purchased carefully.

Just something to keep in mind-

Shimano 2000 is a 2500 size body with a smaller spool.

Shimano C2000 is a 1000 size body with a bigger spool. The C stands for compact.

So If you wanted the casting distance I would go for a 2500 as the 2000 is a narrow spool. This is the case with my Biomaster reels anyway.
