Lost and found!

We have been reading stories on here lately of what has been found.

I would like to know what has been lost!

For example I have been super unlucky recently and also super lucky...

I was squid fishing off a deep water jetty in recent times at the end of a good session I was cleaning the squid using my trusty Leatherman Skeletool. Pulled the hood off and slipped knocking my knife into the water! Devastated not to say the least! (Went back a week later snorkelled and retrieved! Big soak in fresh and heater session followed by good inox soak and its right as rain!

Also

In the Derwent ABT Qualifier (embarrassingly) whilst fishing as a non boater I got a lure snagged, bent to retrieve with the net and somehow kneed my reel handle, few good pulls to get the lure free and the rod flicks somehow were enough to finish the job off... Reel handle popped off hit the deck and plonked into the water. Devastated and couldn't really sacrifice last twenty minutes of fishing time to find my handle it was out with another set up and move on! Called the local tackle shop and discovered handles are not yet made for the TD Sol II so it would have to be a luvias handle $120 and an Eva knob $60 to completely replace! So again it was an after work snorkel mission, the moons aligned and I managed to find it in a very dirty Derwent! It was only in over night so again good soak replace the bearing and all good!

Two unlucky losses but thankfully all ended well.

So let em rip what are your stories of loss/heartbreak/bad luck etc?

A big redfin pulled my rod into the water after I sat it down with the soft plastic dangling about 1m deep in the water.. Managed to hook the line, get the rod back and got the fish too, which turned out to be a 42cm model

I christened a new rod the other night with my new Certate on it.

Managed to reel in a Stradic CI4 4000 Model with a couple of scratches on it here and there attached to a Spellbinder 762MHFS - Unfortunately the rod had a weak tip section about the halfway mark which is no longer available as a spare part. damnit!

Sent the CI4 off to my locals to have it stripped down for a service. - Came back feeling pretty damn good.

It was in a spot where someone had put the rod down and had a decent fish hit them with a too tigh a drag losing the lot into the water.

This is the 10th yes TENTH!!!! Rod and Reel combo I have ever reeled in.

Making a habit of it.

As I have no need for the Stradic, there is a chance it will end up for sale on here shortly at a pretty low price if anyone is interested.

Lost a berley muncher somewhere in the clarence, I also dropped my old man's lip grips off a jetty there as well. Luckily my cousin jack would do anything for $5. The old man also lost an anchor under a log there as well.

Late last year watching my 4 yr old land his first fish unassisted, I was horrified when it dawned on me that the wash off a passing cruiser had sent my Samurai 201 and Luvias DA over the side in 4m of strong current.

Luckily I have a few photos to remind me of the day and all of a sudden some of the materialistic objects we are normally fond of, don't seem to matter that much any more.
