Angry Worst tackle store ever.

***BOYCOTT AND AVOID THIS PLACE***

Went into "Go Fishing- the building behind "GO CAMPING"in Nerang today http://www.gocamping.com.au/ with my girlfriend and sadly have to say that I have never been so appalled by the treatment of low level retail staff in my life. As I left the store purchasing close to $100 of fishing lures the member serving us asked us to EMPTY OUR BAGS and then proceeded to empty out our bags in front of waiting customers and staff. To the point where he opened very zip and rummaged through every pocket of both mine and my girlfriend's bag. The manner of which he might as well got on the intercom and told the store that we were stealing merchandise. My partner left this place in tears today and it made the last day of our gold coast holiday a bit awkward and uncomfortable.

This was after 10 minutes before advising us a s a couple that "go Camping" as a franchise doesn't stock SMITH LTD lures because the stockist is a dishonest scumbag and cant be trusted. God knows why you would tell members of the public off the street this, it surpasses belief.

I spend thousands every year on light tackle luring, have been Fishing since I was four and visiting tackleshops for just as long. I was once the junior columnist for Bush N Beach and am a member of a large majority of the fishing forums around. I want to spread the word far and wide that this place is just shite and that if you are looking for good tackle and service, this is CERTAINLY NOT the place to look.

I have never been dealt with so unprofessionally and will never be visiting or purchasing from these halfwits again.

Terrible to hear it bud,

If you are still on the coast and didn't spend any money with the GO Fishing guys.

Do yourself an immediate favor and head over to Sporty in Bundle. (Strathaird Road) - 10 mins from Go Fishing

The guys there will treat you respectively and ask plenty of questions to get you exactly what you came in looking for. Customer service from those guys is above expectations every single time.

Not good mate but in reality not uncommon either. I hope this thread is not removed so hopefully personal attacks are not aired but shared via PM if need be. I too often have seen the "here comes another goose" look on tackle shop staff and owners - YES OWNERS !!!! This beggars belief. I will not name the particular store but found their opposition up the carpark treat you the same so I don't spend my dollars there preferring to buy lures off of forum members on this forum and others. Times are supposedly tough so looking down their nose and treating you like crap is going to get a sale ? And they wonder why people buy online ! Me personally prefer to buy tackle (or anything in general) off of small, local business's who know the area and at least have the decency to say hullo even if you probably are "kicking tyres". Little things like being acknowledged bring me back as one day I may make the big purchase. Customer service is fast becoming a thing of the past but face it retailers YOU HAVE TO TRY HARDER - rant over. Cheers Pat.

This is why I always go to tackle warehouse at cooparoo in brissy, the staff there are super friendly, always up for a chat, super helpful/knowledgable and once u go there a bit they know u by name/what kind of fishing you do. And after a few visits u get a few bucks off things and it adds up after a while.. If someone ask me to recommend a tackle shop in brisbane Gold Coast area tackle warehouse would be my no.1 choice

Nailed it! Love walking in and you hear Bill (the owner) yell out g'day Jack! And all the staff know you buy name. Never hesitate to spend the few extra bucks to shop there because the staff know their stuff and a just all round good blokes!

Sucks you had that experience mate, I haven't been there in a few years, but needless to say it won't cross my mind again!

It is a real shame that you have to walk into a Tackle Store and feel like that. Fortunately enough I haven't been to a Tackle Store and experienced something like this yet. But if it happens to me I certainly not be going back that's for sure...

I might be wrong but I think these days you can refuse to have your bags searched.

I know my sister (from Sydney) gets shocked when they ask her in Coffs Harbour to check her bags. It just isnt done anymore in Sydney apparently. its seen as an insult to be asked.

shame to hear bud. me personally, i havent had any bad experiences there. and i have visited them more then i like to think. i understand that it has been a bad experience for you and if it were me, i wouldnt go back either. but i will continue to shop there until i experience something other then decent service.

another shop to be careful of is tackleworld in southport. i went there looking for a rod to cast light lures for bream, long story short, they tried to rip me off $200. tried selling me a rod almost twice the price it should be at.

also another big ++++ for the guys at sporty's. great service everytime

When I was doing store security, you could only ask to search a person bag if was big enough to hold a loaf of bread anything smaller was deemed illegal. Unless you saw them put something into it.

Having said that you can request/demand to have it opened away from pulis eyes.

Not good at all, personally i would have asked for a refund on my $100 worth of lures and told them i would be spending my hard earned dollars elsewhere.

I would oblige by opening the bag but, wanting to check every nook and cranny?
"NO WAY" I would ask are you accusing me? And if so,call the police and mention
the human privacy act. And let people around you know that you have nothing to hide,
and stay in view of anyone shopping there at that time.
Gae.
