Question Daiwa servicing questions

Hi guys,

I have a Daiwa Caldia 3520PE SH that has taken a beating from rock and surf fishing and needs servicing as it's starting to feel sluggish.

For those of you that have experience with Daiwa servicing, how long does it take for Daiwa to get back to you on a quote? I have downloaded the form from the Daiwa page so do I just fill that out and send it with the reel to the PO box address given?

Also, will Daiwa be able to replace parts for me if they are faulty or do I have to buy my own spares before sending it off to them?

Sorry about all the questions guys, new to all this servicing stuff Thanks in advance!

Daiwa have a standard service fee. For a reel in the Caldia's range expect the service fee to be around 70-80 bucks. Then they will supply all parts needed and charge you for those on top of the service fee. They usually sting you for postage to.

The daiwa service dept can take a little while to turn your reel around, it just depends on how busy they are. Expect a minimum of 3 weeks.

Daiwa don't have the best customer service record though mate. I find there is a bit of an elitist arrogant attitude on the go down at daiwa. The rumour is shimano's service is miles ahead. Unfortunately shimano's reels just don't quiet compare to the daiwa range, so i usually just service all my daiwas myself.

unless you are after a warranty repair, try D&H Reel Repairs on the Gold Coast. Google him. Great service great price and he upgrades drags, bearings etc as required.

Thanks for the responses guys, seems like alot to pay for mediocre service and long turn around times was tempted to try and service it myself but due to the lack of experience I thought it would be wiser to send it off.

Unfortunately it isn't a warranty repair so it might not be worth it. Will check out D&H reel repairs out tchoklat, thanks for the info

Im a full DIY'er when it comes to reel service's, (dont trust anyone else with my reels lol) but now with mag seals we need to get our hands on the mag oil. Does anyone know of a secret place to get any of this stuff? I know they sell magnetic oil on EBay etc but who knows what is in that? Im talking about the genuine stuff...

Shimano's reels don't compare.........obviously your another diased breammer who probably spends more time in your bedroom taking selfies of your daiwa reels than actually getting out there and putting the hurt on good fish.
High end daiwa and shimano are equally as good.

As said previously Daiwas service dept is cr@p.
I suggest getting the schematics and having a go yourself, just take your time.
Good luck

i have had numerous reels serviced by diawa, and service has been great, on all occasions. Although i have dropped the reel off, seen the guys and picked them up. Turn around time was a week.
i will say though it was pricey, they sting you for bearings big time, apart from that all good

Rightio then, what forum is it on? Ill go and have a look!!!

Or you could calm down now dude and accept that some people think that daiwa make better reels than shimano and leave them to their own opinions!!
