To blog or not to blog? That is the Question

Hi all,

So I have been giving some serious thought to creating my own fishing blog site. I have been thinking about this for quite some time, about 2 years actually and I think its about time I give it a go.

The reason why I have not acted on it before now is due to the fact that i have been kept extremely busy doing articles for the 6 fishing magazines that I write for. I have now come to the conclusion that I have a heap of material and content and can surely spare some articles for my site.

Blogs are becoming more popular these days and there are undoubtedly some good ones around. This is not the REASON why I would create a site such as this, as I am not a follower, but simply would give it a crack based on pure passion alone. This, coupled with the amount of fishing I do and the species I have on offer in Mackay, I think I would be mad not to give it a go.

I'm not after fame or fortune but simply want to share my passion, reports and pics with as many people as I can - similarly to what I post on here after every trip I do.

If you do a job, you do it properly - so it would not be a half-hearted attempt. I would give it my all and may even get it professionally designed by a graphic designer or similar...

I value many peoples comments from this forum and would like to ask your advice....Would you encourage this and do you think you may read my blogs on my site?

Cheers,
Luke

I recon they are great especially fishing & camping ones etc.
Even mine is just cheap & easy but its really just a record I keep for myself & not intended for others.
If friends wanna see it etc fine but I like to look back myself & also to see where they were biting the year before etc.
Some really good ones around for sure.
They can have many different uses depending what you want to get out of them I guess.

Go for it Luke seeings (sic) the quality of your reports it will no doubt be a great blog. I started one last year as a record for bass fishing and fly tying but the enthusiasm waned and just became a bit of a chore which was a pity. Let's face it you got to enjoy something to keep enthused so be it. Cheers Pat.

Do it mate!! I understand what your saying about passion. The reason why many (including myself) show pictures and story's is because we also enjoy reading about or seeing other passionate anglers doing what they love!! It is really motivating and makes you want to grab your gear and head out for a flick

Would be great if you could start up a blog! Definitely give it a crack!!

Why not

WHY NOT? What have you got to loose other than time? Lets face it, once you have read as many posts as you can on here and can't comment any more you move on to the next site to read that. I suppose the main aim is to be the go to site. Dunno, Good luck man

I have had mine going for near on 2 years, it can be tough at times to find time to maintain it but watching it grow has been a lot of fun and I enjoy doing it.

I dont pay a cent for mine, I use a blogspot page and you can alter the domain name to suit yourself, these days setting up a blog only takes a few hours and your blogging.
