Knotted Dog

Has anyone tried the Knotted dog leader?

I have tried it, but the one I tried was too thick. I have now gone down to a thinner leader, but have not been able to go for a fish to try it yet.

What does everyone else think of it?

I have attached a pic of it. It is a twisted leader that is stronger than normal leader and also easier to slide over snags.

Hi Mim

I have used the knotted leaders but not for bream i have on bass i found it excellent. Extend the section with a double uni as a tippet tie on and away you go very cheap for what they are.

The knotted dog system is for fish that require a heavy shock leader. More like a bimini or shock absorber in the system. Brilliant on spiderwire like lines.

I haven't used the bought ones, but have tied plenty up my self.
I tie up the tapered ones usually for fly fishing, some times i'll use non tapered ones when chasing barra and Jacks, sometimes even flathead.

Not overly necessary for bream unless your in really snaggy country.
They are very easy to tie and are great for taking the shock out of hard hitting species.

I use it for Tailor and flathead. Ive never tried it on Bream.
